The University of Évora is a Portuguese public higher education institution dedicated to teaching, research, innovation, and knowledge transfer, with strong expertise in agricultural sciences, environmental sustainability, digital technologies, and health. Its main research centre, Mediterranean Institute for Agriculture, Environment and Development (MED), focuses on the sustainability of Mediterranean ecosystems and agri-food systems, contributing to the goals of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the European Green Deal. Through multidisciplinary research on sustainable agriculture, climate adaptation, biodiversity, and rural development, MED develops science-based solutions to enhance the resilience and sustainability of Mediterranean production systems. Role in the project
MED leads the experimental work package jointly with BIOPOLIS. Responsible for multi-omics discovery of heat stress resilience mechanisms through controlled and seasonal experiments and integrative biological analysis.
