Hellenic Agricultural Organization – DIMITRA (ELGO-DIMITRA) is a public-interest organization supervised by the Greek Ministry of Rural Development and Food, supporting the modernization and sustainable development of the agricultural sector through research, innovation, technology transfer, and vocational education. The organization operates a wide network of 11 Agricultural Research Institutes, 6 education schools, 36 training centres, and specialized laboratories supporting the quality and development of agricultural production. Within SheepHeatIT, ELGO-DIMITRA participates through the Research Institute of Animal Science (RIAS), which conducts high-quality research in livestock production and contributes expertise through participation in more than 100 national and international research projects. RIAS also has strong links with the farming sector, ensuring effective knowledge transfer and the practical application of research outcomes.
Role in the project
ELGO leads the phenotyping work package. Responsible for coordinating and integrating large-scale phenotypic data collected across regions and for uploading harmonised datasets to the ITCP in collaboration with consortium partners.
